The Holy Bible: King James Version. 2009 (Electronic Edition of the 1900 Authorized Version.) (2 Corinthians  9:7–8). Bellingham, WA: Logos Research Systems, Inc.

7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:

As I was reading this, I was reminded that what comes from our heart is of more importance than what comes out of our wallet. That does not mean that what we give, or if we give, is not important to God. We will see in the next three weeks that it obviously is. What we learn is that if our heart is not in tune with God, then neither will our giving.

What are your thoughts? Questions?

  1. It makes me think...am I a cheerful giver? I try to be and I want to be. Then I realize I am cheerful in giving my tithes but find it hard to be cheerful giving my time. I will definitely pray harder on this.

  3. I used to think that giving from my wallet was the way to be. After reading this and understanding it, I will look into my heart more and try to keep it with god. So then I can give more.
