2 Corinthians 9:6 But
this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he
which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.
Today, we see the illustration and comparison of giving to sowing. The farmer who sows little to no seed wold never expect anything to grow when it was harvest time. Yet, the while ignoring their personal responsibility to give to God. And don't think that this is some "get rich quick scheme" that you often hear on television and radio today. This is what is often known as the "Law of Sowing and Reaping." You reap what you sow, and when you sow faithfulness to God, you reap the blessings of God.
Could your spiritual sowing be considered bountiful or sparing?
Explain the other 2 verses.
ReplyDelete2 Cor 9:10
Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;)
2 Corinthians 9:12
For the administration of this service not only supplieth the want of the saints, but is abundant also by many thanksgivings unto God;
These followup verses show us that God is the one who supplies the seed (money, time, ability, etc.), and we are the ones who sow it for the benefit of not only the saints (church), but also it will be abundant, or overflowing, for our blessing. This simply means that God will not have us just "get by" but will bless.
