Here, as we open up the great 10th chapter of the Book of Romans, we are allowed to take a peak into the heart and desire of Paul. This was not the first time he expressed his desire to see those of his own country turn to Christ for salvation. He opened the previous chapter by saying:

What, if we could take a peak into your heart, would we find to be your desire? Christianity suffers today from the selfish attitude that permeates it. We are so busy trying to amass more and more for ourselves that we have no desire to change the eternal destination of those around us - even our own family. God grant us a heart and a desire like Paul's for the lost around us, especially those we come in contact with every day.
Good article. I have seen the material in some commentaries. Why the King James only heading? I have used the NIV since 1978 and have been able to reach many of the younger generation because they understand it. The NIV tranlators were committed to it being accurate, having clarity and literary quality and to reach the contemporary speaking audience with a translation true to the Greek and Hebrew text. The translators were also united in their commitment to the authority and infalliblility of the Bible as God's Word in written form. The King James is also a translation of a translation. Not trying to be argumentative for that is not my goal. My goal is to reach as many as we can who will listen to the word of God and lead them to Christ, just like you do and as you know Paul tried to do when he didn't even have the written word like we do. I love you in the Lord my brother. I pray for your work there each day.
ReplyDeleteThat question, in my mind, has a very easy answer - other, newer translations use corrupted texts. Many, the NIV included, make changes that takes away the Diety of Jesus Christ.
