Got to get them in the boat!

Today I was fortunate enough to go fishing with Tim O. and his friend from work Mike. Tim took out his boat to the Detroit River (here is a map...it is the yellow line in between Michigan and Canada. We fished in the lower part.) and we fished for white bass and walleye. Well, the only walleye we saw were not even bigger than your hand, but we had pretty good luck with the bass. Mike caught a really nice one to start off, and later Tim got a nice size Steel Head. I got my fair share of bass, and had many that were "quick releases." (A quick release is when you get the fish to the surface, but he spits the hook before you get him in the boat.)

But one in particular stands out for me. I caught a good size white bass, and Tim decided that he wanted to keep it. Mike had a metal, collapsible "cage" that had a one-way opening on to so that you could put the fish in, and they could not get out. It was tied to some rope and hung over the side of the boat in the water. Well, Tim pulled it up, and I tossed my fish into the cage....only to miss the cage opening and the fish to swim off!

That got me to thinking of how great those fish were...but it did not matter because I didn't get them into the boat. Then I began to think about the Great Commission that Christ gave His church:

Matthew 28:18-20 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

It's great to win people to Christ, but we haven't fully completed the task that the Lord has given us until we, "Get them in the boat." We have to baptize them, then began to train and disciple them.

Let's go out and win the Lost to Christ....and "get them in the boat!"

Here is the area that our family likes to go fishing every Saturday morning. Last year we threw out over 6000 lines on those Saturday trips. This year we have thrown out over 7000 so far. We have caught a few and even gotten a few in the boat too (though not nearly as many as we would like).

As you can see it is a pretty big area for fishing! There are almost 1,000,000 fish in this fishing hole and our goal is to try and catch each and every one of them. Anytime one of you big time fishermen from Michigan want to come down and throw out a few lines with us we would be more then happy to show you our fishing hole.

Your Michigan bait won´t work here but we have plenty of Spanish bait for you to use!
